One Legacy United

One Legacy United is Heart of West Michigan United Way’s newest initiative to increase representation and involvement of African Americans, American Indians, Asian and Pacific Islanders and Hispanics and Latinos in identifying and solving critical needs within their communities.

The face of West Michigan is changing, which means diversity has begun to enrich the fabric of our community. Despite the variety of cultures that have started weaving together a stronger, more inclusive community, people of color still face numerous disparities in economic status, access to education and health care, and incidents of violent crime.

Heart of West Michigan United Way believes the community cannot reach its full potential until these disparities are recognized and addressed.

One Legacy United believes that communities are strongest when they are most inclusive. This initiative seeks to involve every segment of the community in every aspect of its work. One Legacy United believes that out of that involvement will grow understanding, commitment and the material support our community needs.
