Women's Leadership Council

Heart of West Michigan United Way’s Women's Leadership Council is designed to engage women in our community in impacting the lives of our children and youth. The Women's Leadership Council hopes to build an infrastructure for women to be leaders in strengthening our community. This is done by:

  • Educating women on critical community issues
  • Increasing awareness and participation in volunteer opportunities
  • Raising funds that are directed towards critical community issues

Women’s Leadership Council Goals

  • Improve children's literacy skills in preparation for kindergarten
  • Enable children, ages 0 to 6, to have improved care that is free from abuse and neglect
  • Improve the access, use and quality of support systems for parents
  • Provide youth an effective education that will contribute to positive lifestyle
  • Increase the number of youth in safe environments
  • Increase the number of youth who have at least one caring adult who provides love, guidance, support and accountability
