Current Job OpportunitiesLeadership GivingPART I: DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Position Summary: Implements and focuses on the recruitment and retention of donors that contribute $500 or more. The position develops and implements leadership giving campaign strategies as a part of the overall fundraising effort for Heart of West Michigan United Way within the established guidelines. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: · Develop, implement and evaluate a year-round strategy to increase donors and contributions within all leadership giving levels, both inside and outside the workplace. · Develop knowledge of all United Ways programs and initiatives. · Accomplish Division goals and objectives set by campaign chair(s) and VP of Resource Development. · Develop year-round cultivation, recruitment, and recognition program for volunteers. · Provide job description for volunteers and training/orientation. · Support key campaign volunteers. · Make leadership giving “asks”. · Conduct appropriate research to identify potential, donor profiles and best practices. · Develop Leadership Giving campaign materials. · Develop de Tocqueville specific materials and events. · Plan donor recognition events. · Develop and maintain appropriate donor files and information. · Develop and maintain appropriate volunteer files and information. · Provide staff/volunteer training to assist in their understanding of this special segment. · Work to develop letters, brochures and other material specific to your work. · Partner with other departments to develop and manage a portfolio in the acquisition of new accounts. · Has a strong commitment to a supportive team environment. · Be a team player. · Assume any other responsibility as assigned. PART II: SCOPE Direction of Others: · Supervises a team of Loaned Executives and/or volunteers. · Indirect supervision of administrative staff. Complexity: · Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. · Strong attention to detail. · Moderate to high level of analytical skills. · Requires vision and the ability to see the interconnectivity of opportunities and responsibilities. · Strong relationship building skills. Independent Judgment and Consequence of Errors: · High level of independent thinking and judgment. · High level of decision making. · An error in judgment could result in having a serious impact on the financial resources, public trust or employee relations of the organization. PART III: QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience: · Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or related job experience. · Requires at least two years experience with demonstrated direct management responsibilities for leadership giving or major gift initiatives · A broad knowledge of and connections with the Grand Rapids donor community. · Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population. · Demonstrated ability to prioritize and develop a plan of action with staff, committee members and volunteers. · Proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications. · High level of organization and prioritization skills. · Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with set deadlines/guidelines. · Demonstrated ability to work within a team-based environment. · Demonstrated analytical skills. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Must have strong public speaking and presentation skills. · Experience as a volunteer in a variety of roles – from direct service to board member - with various organizations preferred. · Donor development and relationship building skills. · Experience working in partnership with volunteers. PART IV: WORKING CONDITIONS Physical Demands/Work Environment: · Employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. · Moderate level of stress caused from tight deadlines. · Moderate level of physical activity during campaign season. · Moderate level of mental and/or visual fatigue and/or eyestrain may result from looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time. · Occasional work outside of normal business hours. · Frequent travel is required. · Moderate office noise level.
